Progressive Congregation Introduces New Pastor

With the retirement of their beloved founding pastor, Rev. Ellen Sims, Open Table, in Mobile, joyfully welcomes their newly called pastor, Rev. Joshua Noah. After graduating from the Alabama School of Math and Science, Noah completed an undergraduate degree in Theater Studies at Maryville College, in Tennessee, before he felt the call to ministry. He received his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian education/youth ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary before pastoring his first church, Grace Presbyterian, in Crystal City, Missouri.

“I appreciate the unexpected journey that brought me back to Alabama and embrace Open Table’s emerging Christian theology,” Noah says. “I look forward to partnering with Open Table in making disciples for Christ, working towards the reconciliation and healing of the world and bringing the Reign of God into the here and now.”

As the first United Church of Christ congregation on the Alabama Gulf Coast, Open Table seeks a more expansive view of God, has strong ecological and social justice commitments, insists on a Christianity with intellectual integrity and believes that Christianity can be vital without claiming to be the best or the only true religion. Until they can resume in-person worship at All Saints Episcopal, they meet virtually on Sundays for a 9:30 a.m. adult education hour and 11 a.m. Zoom worship service (live-stream available on their Facebook page).
