Thermography Advantage: Breast Health and Beyond

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Thermography Advantage, a local digital infrared thermal imaging company, is educating women on the value of thermography and the role thermograms play in preventative breast health. While mammograms use X-rays to capture images of the structure of the breast, thermography uses a digital infrared medical device to detect functional changes such as lymph system congestion. Possible hormonal or vascular changes may form new and enlarged blood vessels needed for extra blood supply towards tumor growth.

“At this time, women in their 20s and 30s, and even some in their 40s, are not falling into the standard recommendations for mammograms,” says Thermography Advantage owner and certified thermographer Carolyn Olson. “It is not because they are not getting diagnosed with cancer at these ages, it is usually because they believe dense breasts in mammography are not going to bring very accurate results.” Thermography can be done as a breast screening even in addition to mammography.

The thermography camera used at Thermography Advantage is registered by the FDA as a medical device. The thermal images are interpreted by a medical doctor that is certified in thermography. Patients get a copy of the written report and the colored images. Referrals are not needed to make an appointment. The procedure is radiation-free, non-invasive and highly effective as a tool to monitor the whole body.

Thermography is also used to monitor inflammation, which can be a precursor to other diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

“In addition to helping diagnose disease, thermograms form a baseline for future routine evaluations so clients can watch for changes from year-to-year and take preventative measures such as the electro-lymphatic drainage therapy that we offer,” says Olson. “Lymphatic therapy has been used to help patients of all ages with inflammation, autoimmune diseases, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lymphedema, neuropathy, edema and water retention, cancer, heart disease, chronic pain, cosmetic enhancement, pre- and post-athletic application, enlarged prostate and detoxification. It’s a great way to prevent disease down the road and keep your immune system strong.”

Thermography Advantage offers other testing and treatments including Zyto testing, which is a bio-feedback program that tests the body’s response to multiple conditions and possibly finds the root causes of disease. Patients receive a lengthy, detailed written report with a plan of action, a video explanation and a phone consultation.

Looking forward to healthier days ahead means taking action. Now is the time to be proactive in prioritizing your health with thermography.
