‘Longest Day’ Yoga Fundraiser for The Alzheimer’s Association

On International Yoga Day, June 21 (2023), Yoga Happy at Gulf Coast
Training & Education Services in Biloxi, Mississippi, is hosting a day of
yoga to support The Alzheimer’s Association. Several workshops and classes will
be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including a mini-sound bath and the launch of
sound therapy at Yoga Happy.
International Day of Yoga
has been celebrated worldwide on the longest day of the year. Likewise, the
Alzheimer’s Association selected the longest day to fight the darkness of
Alzheimer’s through fundraising activities.
“At Yoga Happy we’ve been
helping our community stay well since 2013. Wellness allows one to rest
actively, work efficiently and fully participate in life,” says Sheila Farr,
M.Ed., RYT-200, YACEP. “Whether you’re
seeking to make a connection with yourself through heart-centering practices like
meditation or cacao ceremonies, learn mindfulness and meditation to reduce
stress or develop a regular self-care practice, Yoga Happy is here to help you
meet your needs.”
Since 2010, Farr has
trained in and taught many forms of yoga, from Vinyasa to Yin, but restorative
yoga is her passion. “We are all so busy. Our bodies seem to stay in a constant
state of stress,” she says. “I like to focus on meditation, restorative
postures and a healthy practice of pranayama.”
