Most days, Mary Sabal (DC, RN) can be found doing what she enjoys most, greeting customers and treating patients at A Better Way Health Food Store in Foley. With the right mix of vitamins and minerals or treatments, she strives daily to improve the mental and physical health of the community.

Sabal has been practicing chiropractic and holistic medicine for more than 30 years, earning a reputation for going above and beyond for her patients. She felt an intrinsic calling to begin treating patients and customers preventative measures to steer them in the right mental and physical direction before they became sick, as she was a registered nurse/paramedic who realized that many people could be in better health if they practiced some small but profound lifestyle changes.

When the health of Sabal’s patients prevents them from leaving their homes, she has been known to make home visits. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise with community members who are interested in practicing good habits and healthy lifestyles. 

Sabal offers a wide range of nationally recognized products in her store. Additionally, she provides treatments including chiropractic care, acupuncture (needle or electric), hair tissue mineral analysis (to determine precisely which supplements to avoid or increase, not just a shotgun approach to vitamins) and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (utilized to increase tissue oxygenation). There is also a patient-operated spinal decompression treatment available.

She, like many of us, was called to live along the Gulf Coast due to the amazing weather and friends who motivated her family to relocate to a small corner of paradise. When she is not helping and healing neighbors, she can be found riding the many bountiful bike trails of the Gulf Coast, enjoying a good mystery novel or following another passion, rescuing and rehabilitating dogs.
