Fairhope Shop Owner Distributes Sanitizer to Neighboring Businesses

As efforts to flatten the curve picked up last month, Peak Alkalinity owner Missy Guitterrez gave away more than 50 bottles of their DermaRinse Plus hand sanitizer and 10 bottles of their disinfecting cleanser to downtown businesses.
After a representative from Thomas Hospital stopped by their shop to see if they could spare a box of gloves for the medical staff (which they did), Guitterrez wondered how else they could contribute. “I knew that sanitizers were relatively scarce and that delivering items curbside posed a potential concern to those still working during this time,” she says.
So Guitterrez went door-to-door to the businesses she could see were still open, called them to come outside and handed them bottles of sanitizer and cleanser. The DermaRinse Plus products are made from ionized, acidic water and structured nano silver. Because they are chemical-free, they’re non-irritating and don’t dry the skin like alcohol-based products do.
“It may seem silly, but it felt like handing those things out, as trivial as it was, provided some sense of order to circumstances that seemed to be deteriorating day-by-day right in front of our eyes. It didn’t fix anyone’s problems, but it was a way to say ‘I’m in your corner!’” says Guitterrez, who didn’t return to her shop empty handed. “Folks were graciously putting food and goodies in my hands as fast as I was handing over the products. I was overwhelmed by the unexpected generosity. This feeling of belonging is why I love where we live.”
