Community Challenge Raises Funds for Special Needs Playground

The American Autism and Rehabilitation Foundation
(AARF) is hosting the Warrior Challenge to help improve
the physical and emotional health of the community while
raising funds for the rebuilding of the American Autism
and Rehabilitation Center’s (AARC) outdoor playground.
Hurricane Sally destroyed the Daphne center’s equipment
last fall.
This virtual challenge asks participants to set a walking
or running goal of 31, 65 or 100 miles during the month of
March 2021. A private Facebook group will provide daily encouragement and fun weekly challenges. The entry fee, which
includes a T-shirt, is $30 for adults and $15 for children.
“Health and wellness are important to the staff and families at AARC,” says Director of
Community Outreach, Christy Kelley Wilson. “With your support, we can give children
with autism and other special needs a place to play, learn and participate in therapeutic
activities.”
AARF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the lives of children, adults and families affected by various special needs conditions. Their support of
local programs helps minimize or eliminate obstacles that interfere with independence.
